more information

  • Ledger Lines Piano Studio is a high-caliber piano studio in Columbus, Ohio. Students of all ages are welcome, from complete beginners to the musically advanced!

  • Lessons take place individually and feature technical development, repertoire building, and theory instruction. Some students also get involved in composition and music history.

Lessons are held at the studio, and a limited number of in-home lessons are sometimes available.

  • Students are required to perform in the 2-3 studio recitals each year. After all, music is meant to be shared!

Students can also take advantage of other opportunities, including studio group classes, community events, local performance opportunities through music teacher organizations, evaluated performances and examination programs, and even competitions for students who are so inclined.

Some students even form duet teams or perform chamber music together with family, friends, or peers.

  • Dr. Timothy Ledger has garnered more than a decade of experience teaching piano privately and in higher education. He stays active as a performer, adjudicator, and learner, always refining his own skills to bring that expertise to you.

Tim's students regularly perform in recitals, community events, and even take exams. Some of his students have rediscovered their love of playing the piano later in life, while others have won prizes in local, state, and national competitions and festivals, have been featured on NPR's From the Top, have received admission to selective universities and summer programs, and have been placed in competitive musical and non-musical organizations and internships.

Each student's work and success is their ownβ€”Tim finds immense joy helping them achieve their vision. By individually tailoring course materials and instruction to each student, constantly seeking education, and consistently evaluating his own role as a teacher, Tim encourages the development of impactful transferable skills in all of his students: active listening, critical thinking, and creative imagination.

    More about Tim

  • About lessons:

Dr. Timothy Ledger is phenomenal piano instructor. I started learning piano quite late in life and Dr. Ledger is so adept at instructing older folks. I have made such great progress in just a few years, and I can't believe I am actually learning some music theory along the way and enjoying it so much.

Tim is a great piano teacher. Our son started with him when he was 5 and we have been doing lessons with Tim for almost 2 years. He is extremely patient and skillful, I can see how much my son has grown. Highly recommended. In-home lesson is also available!

An amazing teacher. I’m really impressed with the outcome that my son achieved in such a small period. All these due to the great efforts that Tim put, the amazing approach that Tim follows, and the dedication that he commits to make his students successful.

He is an excellent teacher and getting the best out of the twins.

About large community and university courses:

Timothy Ledger gives equal attention to all students, helping each and every one reach goals while nurturing their individual interests.

Tim was an amazing prof. He always remembered exactly where I was in terms of my skill, and the course material provided helpful, highly personalized feedback each week. His attitude and enthusiasm made me look forward to class each week, even though I am usually very intimidated by keyboard playing in front of others.

Timothy was very responsive to questions and requests not only during class time but also between classes. Many thanks for such a wonderful course! I do hope you will offer another!

Tim was always supportive and encouraging toward his students. It was a safe and comfortable learning environment that encouraged us to grow and work hard.

Timothy was very well organized. He was an expert facilitator of a wildly diverse group, ages 6 to 70, catering to different communication styles and interests, keeping us all engaged and learning. He was very generous in sharing resources in a very structured format, allowing us to review concepts and ideas as well as listen to samples with links and readings, with options to go beyond what was covered in the course.
